Over 4+ years, I spent more time obsessively optimizing a lightly-trafficked blog than actually writing anything. It was difficult to keep my site at a 95+ Google PageSpeed Insights score on desktop/mobile and keep all plugins/themes updated. Site performance is a major concern for me; no one likes a slow site.
WordPress has many uses, but perhaps it's no longer ideal for what it was originally created for: blogging. Frequent (often broken) plugin updates, finnicky caching configs, unintuitive editor, and an endless barrage of notifications (blatant and incessant marketing masquerading as "helpful" tips) cluttering wp-admin.
Back in February 2017, a WordPress site was born at this URL. It has since passed away, and a Ghost has taken its place. After using WordPress on/off since 2008, it feels great to move on and learn something new.
